Daylight Savings 2015: Make sure to reset the time on your water softener
November 02, 2015
Why it is important for your water softener’s clock to be accurate:
As you’re changing the clocks around your home this Sunday night or Monday morning, don’t forget about the clock on your water softener. Your softener should always read the current time of day, NOT the regeneration time. Most water softeners are pre-programmed to regenerate at 2 a.m. in the morning, but they will only “know” when it is 2 a.m. if the water softener clock is set to the current time.
For any brand water softener, the instructions for how to change the time of day will be in your owner’s manual. Because our company installs the Fleck brand water softener, we have provided you with instructions below for two of the most common models we sell.
How to adjust the time of day on your 5600 Econominder or 5600 Time Clock Fleck water softener (non-digital):
These directions work for all non-digital models of the Fleck brand water softener. On these softeners, the Time of Day is shown on a dial on the softener head. To adjust the time, press the red button on the left side of the softener head, while the button is pressed down the time dial will spin. (These directions are also typically printed on the lower left corner of the softener head.)
How to adjust the time of day on your SXT Fleck water softener (digital):
These directions work for all SXT models of the Fleck brand water softener. On these softeners, the Time of Day is shown on the digital display on the softener head. To adjust the time, press the down arrow (or up arrow, depending on what time you are changing to). Hold the arrow until you reach the correct time of day. Then, press the cycle button (which looks like a circular pattern of arrows) and you’re all done!
